>Update: Flying Fish at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort

Opening is set for late summer for Flying Fish Restaurant at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort at Walt Disney World® Resort. The “Cafe” goes away as part of the name, and you will be welcomed to a sophisticated, interior that still pays homage to the golden era of seaside boardwalks.

A new menu will feature sustainable fish, as well as a new Fruits of the Sea appetizer with rock shrimp and clams from Florida, grouper cheek, mussels, a splash of Brandy and a rich lobster stock.

Inside, Flying Fish Restaurant will feature an all-new kitchen and dining room (with expanded space for private dining events), sparkling architectural accents, like golden-winged room panels and an impressive chandelier that mimics a school of flying fish overhead. Next door, the new AbracadaBar lounge will open, taking the spot formerly occupied by Seashore Sweets candy and ice cream shop.

This new “curious cocktail lounge” combines the Golden Age of Magic with the magic of Disney storytelling. From enchanted magic show posters and mystifying mirrors to vintage props and tricks, AbracadaBar promises to be just as surprising and magical as its name suggests.

Beginning May 27, 2016, you will be able to experience the magic of nature on display at Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park at night – for the first time ever. The park will awaken at night with new rich experiences under the stars and, on May 28, The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic live show will debut at the park.
There is an exciting lineup of new experiences coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park after the sun sets, including nightly awakenings of the park’s iconic Tree of Life. Beginning May 27, animal spirits will be brought to life each night by magical fireflies that reveal colorful stories of wonder and enchantment along with other amazing sights at the tree.
After the sun sets, you also will be able to explore Kilimanjaro Safaris and see the nighttime behavior of the wildlife and better tune in to the unique vocalization of the animals like never before. Among the new experiences, the village of Harambe in Africa will become the place to enjoy “Wildlife Parti” and the spirited community of Discovery Island will come together to celebrate their love of the natural world with the Discover Island Carnivale.
And the park’s Discovery River will awaken at night and become a stunning stage for performances of the limited-engagement show The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic, inspired by the hit live-action film Disney’s The Jungle Book. Shows will feature memorable moments from the film, including the iconic Shere Khan, and will be filled with music and special effects that celebrate the movie and classic songs, infused with an Indian influence.
FastPass+ and dining packages for Disney’s Animal Kingdom night experiences are now available.
Also, we wanted to share a quick update that development work continues on the future night show, “Rivers of Light.” This show will depict an ancient lantern festival guided by two storytellers who call forth four animal Spirit Guides. New ‘Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular’ Fireworks To Debut at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Starting June 17
Several new Star Wars experiences have debuted at Disney’s Hollywood Studios® at Walt Disney World® Resort over the past year, from the opening of Star Wars Launch Bay in December to the most recent additions of the Star Wars stage show “Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away” and the daily march of Captain Phasma and her fleet of Stormtroopers earlier this spring. Today we’re happy to share an update on the next exciting Star Wars experience that’s set to delight fans at Disney’s Hollywood Studios – the new Star Wars fireworks show, “Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular.”
This new nighttime show, which will be the most elaborate fireworks display in this park’s history, will begin nightly performances on June 17, 2016. This elaborate show will combine fireworks, pyrotechnics, special effects and video projections that will turn the park’s Chinese Theater and other buildings into the twin suns of Tatooine, a field of battle droids, the trench of the Death Star, Starkiller Base and other Star Wars destinations. And the show, which will feature music from throughout the film franchise, will be punctuated with a tower of fire and spotlight beams, creating a massive lightsaber in the sky.

Top Disneyland Tips from past guests

Tell your kids to go talk to a Cast Member with a name badge on if they get lost- they will take them to the “Lost Parents” area at City Hall/Guest Services.

Food/drinks can be brought in but no Glass containers/bottles.

There are lockers and charging stations at the front gate areas.

Take a picture on your phone/camera of the tickets and photopass cards you get in case you lose them.

Put a label on your phone, backpack, camera, etc. for another number to contact if it gets lost.

FastPasses are included with your admission to Disneyland- it gives you an hour window to jump in a shorter line (usually) for a shorter wait time.  Put your admission ticket in the machine and it shows you what time (doesn’t work earlier or later than what’s listed) and also when you can get your next FastPass.  Keep an eye on those times!

If your child is too small to ride, go up to the front of the ride as a group and as for a Rider Swap pass.  The first rider can use a FastPass then the second rider has anytime that day to do the ride with another guest.

Bring glow sticks/wands for World of Color and evening fireworks shows.

See characters at the Character meals- there are 5 at Disneyland. 2 premium: Ariel’s Grotto in California Adventure park on the pier and Goofy’s Kitchen in the Disneyland hotel.  The other 3 are breakfast only: Mickey’s at PCH Grill in the Paradise Pier hotel, Chip and Dale’s Critter breakfast at Grand Californian hotel and Minnie’s Breakfast in the park at the Plaza Inn restaurant at Disneyland park.

Also at City Hall, you can get buttons for whatever you are celebrating during your visit- Birthday, Anniversary, etc or just an I’m Celebrating button.  Cast Members and guests will definitely say something to add to your special day!

Most meals are big enough to share in the parks.

Use a helpful App service like Touring Plans (DLR Lines) or RideMax to maximize your ride plans!
